Mission
The Real Property Tax Service of Washington County, New York
seeks to improve the administration and understanding of the real
property tax. Technical and professional assistance is provided to
other county departments, local governments, local town assessors,
school districts, taxpayers, public, attorneys, and real
estate professionals in all aspects of real property tax.
New York State Office of Real Property Tax Services has merged
their website with
Department of Taxation and Finance*.

Washington County is part
of the pilot program for the new one page RP-5217. We will
start accepting the new one page form as of March 4, 2013.
We encourage all of our customers to use this new form to
facilitate the success of this program.

We Provide advice to assessors and
coordinate assessment information to create assessment rolls, and
bills for Town / County / School and Village purposes; Create and
maintain tax maps for the county; Answer real property assessment
questions and explain process; Distribute forms in reference to real
property tax exemptions; Process forms and create reports pertaining
to error corrections on tax bills; Issue tax map Maintenance
certificates needed to file a map with the County Clerks Office:
Coordinate and collect all payments in lieu of tax revenues paid on
Warren / Washington County IDA properties; Assist towns in various
phases of assessments; Train
new assessors and Board of Assessment Review members; Publish GIS
Web Map and Image Mate Online computerized web services to better
serve the County residents.
