The Warren-Washington Association for
Mental Health operates 3 levels of residential care for adults
with a serious mental illness.
1. Community Residences – Genesis &
Pearl Street
These programs offer a group home environment with 24-hour
staff supervision. The overall goal of the programs is to
provide short-term, focused skill development in a home-like
setting. Individual rehabilitation plans are developed
which clarify need, chart a course of action and provide the
framework to evaluate progress. Services available include
crisis intervention, rehabilitation counseling, social and
living skills development (money management, personal
hygiene, food preparation, meal planning, and recreation
activities), symptom and medication management, community
integration and resource development.
2. Community Living Apartments –
Maple Street & Satellite Apartments
The Community Living Apartment Program offers two types of
living arrangements. Both include support and guidance
through individualized service plans created in partnership
with the service recipients. Services are a continuation and
expansion of those in the community residence programs, and
carry the ultimate goal of achieving an independent,
successful life. Residents learn more about managing symptoms through medication and therapy, improving daily living skills,
pursing educational, vocational and employment goals, solving
transportation needs, addressing substance abuse issues and
increasing their comfort with broader social interaction. Staff meet with recipients from one to seven days each week to
provide direct services and supportive counseling.
Maple Street is a single-site apartment
building with nine units and 24-hour staffing. Residents
maintain separate addresses and telephone numbers and take
responsibility for the upkeep of their living space.
The Satellite Apartment program uses
eleven individual apartments leased by AMH and located
throughout our communities.
Staff provide services through regular
visits; an on-call system is used in case of emergency.
3. Supported Housing
Supported Housing helps those ready to leave inpatient care or
community residence programs, as well as homeless people with
psychiatric disorders in finding quality, permanent and
independent housing. A person is assisted in locating and
moving into a new home and acquiring necessary furnishings
(financial assistance as well as staff assistance). Staff
provides continued support for participants to maintain stable
living in the community. |
