CHILD SUPPORT AND ENFORCEMENT

Title IV-D of the Social Security Act requires the State to operate a Child Support program in conformity with the requirements set forth in that Title.  New York State has placed the responsibility for administering this program on local counties.

Child Support collections have risen dramatically over the past six years from:

1998               $ 5,317,062

2004               $ 7,396,961 (an increase of 39.12%)

The performance of the Unit determines the amount of Federal Incentive money Washington County will receive as a “bonus” for performing well.  For the Federal Fiscal Year 2002 Washington County received $94,965 in Actual Incentive money, an increase of $15,393 over the estimated Incentive of $79,572.
