Whitehall woman charged with felony in welfare fraud case

 According to Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Megan Penor, 29,  of Whitehall. The arrest is the result of an investigation into a complaint filed by the Washington County Department of Social Services.

Penor is accused of failing to report that the she moved to Florida for several months last year to Washington County DSS. As a result for six months in 2016, she collected benefits that she was not entitled to. The total benefits collected exceeds $1000.00.
Penor was charged with Grand Larceny 4th and released pending prosecution in the Fort Edward Town Court. The Washington County Department of Social Services Fraud Investigation Unit assisted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
